BALLINGARRY will host its annual B-Fest Festival this weekend over three days, beginning tonight, Frdiay 31. The festival will feature a Daft Punk Tribute Act, a Wellie Throwing Event, Irish music legends The Four of Us and the return for a second year of The Alvin Purple Experience.

B-Fest is a non-profit community festival that has raised in excess of €48,000 for local charities since it first began in 2012. Now in its fourth year all proceeds from B-Fest 2015 will be donated to Sophie’s Journey Foundation, according to Yvonne Condron representing the organising committee.

Sophie was a smiling eight year-old girl who fought for her life since the day she was born. She underwent an amazing six heart operations, sadly lost her battle and passed away in 2014 from renal failure. During her short life Sophie was not limited by her disability. She could not walk or talk yet competed in half marathons and numerous other sporting events.

B-Fest kicks off on Friday July 31 with a return of Ballingarry’s Mr. & Mrs. Show followed by an 80s’ Disco. Saturday has  Ballingarry folk pounding the pavements as young and old complete the 5k and 10k Fun Runs.

Sunday August 2 will see the return of the big rig in the town. On stage from 7pm will be The Four of Us, followed by the return of The Alvin Purple Experience, who had a great show there last year, and finally a Daft Punk Tribute Act will end the night. This promises to be a hugely entertaining night of music, entry as always by wristband.

Entry to all the weekend’s entertainment will be by wristband only. Wristbands are on sale in local shops for the great value price of €5.

Sunday afternoon sees the younger generation getting involved in the tractor and go-kart racing while the older generation indulge in a bit of welly throwing. Ballingarry will find out who their Rodeo King or Queen will be in the park from 2.30pm with The Bucking Bronco, a bouncing castle and a Junior Voice of Ballingarry competition will be held on the main stage at 5pm.
