CLUB HURLING sides around the county return to action this weekend as the Senior, Premier Intermediate and Intermediate championships resume.
The first game in round 4 of the Q3 sponsored Senior hurling championship this weekend sees Croom face Ballybrown in Croagh on Friday night at 7pm. Ballybrown, chasing top spot in Group 2, know that a win here will all but see them secure a quarter final spot. Croom, who sit on the bottom of the table, need a two pointer and fast.
Group one sees Patrickswell and Kilmallock putting their 100 per cent records on the line as the ‘Well’ face South Liberties on Sunday at 2pm in Pairc na nGael, while the champions Kilmallock face Effin in Kilfinane at 7pm on Sunday. The final game in Group one is the meeting of near neighbours Ahane and Murroe/ Boher in Caherconlish at 2pm on Sunday.
Both sides are in desperate need of a win. Ahane are chasing a top three play-off spot, while winless and pointless Murroe/ Boher are in dire need of a win to leapfrog Effin into second from bottom.
Group Two is just as tight with table topping Na Piarsaigh in action against Bruff on Sunday at 2pm in Claughaun. The City side leads the table by two points from Ballybrown and Adare.
Adare, who lie one point ahead of Doon following three draws from three games, face the East Limerick side at the Gaelic Grounds as part of a double header.  Throw-in for this eagerly anticipated clash is at 3.45pm on Sunday.
The LIT sponsored Premier Intermediate championship is also hotting up as it enters its fifth round of games.
Table topping Knockainey take on bottom side Dromin/Athlacca in Bruff on Saturday at 7pm, while second placed Bruree lost to Garryspillane, 1-17 to 0-14 last night.
