TRANSPORT Minister Paschal Donohue has been asked to investigate how private bus companies can charge โฌ10 to travel from Limerick to Dublin, yet it costs โฌ10.10 for an adult travelling from the city to Rathkeale using Bus รireann.
At this week’s Adare/Rathkeale local authority meeting, Cllr Kevin Sheahan said it was a scandal that passengers travelling to Dublin on private buses were paying 10 cents less for a 125-mile journey than those travelling 30 miles from city to county by public transport.
“The green bus is working.ย Bus รireann is subsidised by the State. I don’t think this is fair and I’m calling on the Minister to take the necessary action.
His proposal was seconded by Fine Gael councillor Tom Neville.
