THE LIMERICK under 21 hurling team and match panel has been announced by team manager John Kiely and selectors Jimmy Quilty and John Flavin.
Limerick will face Tipperary this Thursday evening at the Limerick Gaelic Grounds at 7.30pm. Diarmaid Byrnes of Patrickswell will captain the side which contains several members of Limerick’s back to back Minor Munster title winners from the last two seasons.
The game, which is to be refereed by Colm Lyons of Cork sees Limerick seeking their first provincial win since 2011, when they went on to win the Munster crown.
The competitive, straight knock out nature of the under 21 competition is highlighted by the fact that since 2007, four of the five counties in the Munster Under 21 Hurling Championship have won the title – Cork (2007), Tipperary (2008 and 2010), Clare (2009, 2012, 2013 and 2014) and Limerick (2011).
Two periods of 10 minutes will be played if sides finish level at the end of 60 minutes.
