THE SIGNAL from a mobile phone helped save a woman who got into difficulties in a lake on the outskirts of Limerick city this morning.
The Shannon-based rescue helicopter has helped rescue a woman in her early 20s. The signal from the woman’s mobile phone was used to trace her to wetlands at Grove Island, Corbally at around 6 a.m.
Reports say the coast guard helicopter located her in the water, and Search and Rescue personnel then retrieved her from the water.
She was then taken to University Hospital Limerick but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
