NOBODY who witnessed the 1985 World Snooker Championship final will ever forget where they were when they watched Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor vie for almost 15 hours for the sport’s biggest prize, Taylor winning a historic match with the very last ball in the very last frame.
On Thursday June 18, the two legends of the game will be in Limerick for a rematch to mark the 30-year anniversary of their titanic tussle at The Crucible in Sheffield as part of a charity snooker exhibition in aid of St Gabriel’s School & Centre in Dooradoyle.
The rematch will take place at 7:30pm in Pery Hotel on Glentworth Street, with local snooker players invited to pit their wits against Taylor and Davis. Also performing on the night is celebrated local magician Steve Spade, whose pre-exhibition act is sure to be well received by all in attendance.
