THE third Killaloe Chamber Music Festival will run from Friday June 19 to Sunday 21, staging six concerts of European inspiration over three days.
As before, St Flannan’s Cathedral is venue and there will be afternoon and evening concerts at the weekend, with a festival club now established to continue on at Wood Bros, drawing in the musicians and programme makers.
According to Killaloe’s artistic director, Joachim Roewer, “We will be travelling from Italy to Estonia, from France to Russia, taking a late night trip to Spain and revisiting the Viennese giants Mozart, Schubert and Beethoven.
“Holding it all together is the famous 19th century composer Antonín Dvorák who based most of his wonderful melodies on the rich tradition of Folk music both of his native Bohemia and of America where he wrote his unforgettable “New World Symphony”. In almost all of the concerts you will be hearing his music.”.
The dynamic, friendly, music compulsive John Horgan is festival founder and chair; the same man is over Bantry’s internationally rated event also.
