WORD from Limerick Writers Centre: in the White House Bar next Wednesday June 10, 8pm, friends and relations of the late poet Liam Mulligan will gather to remember his life and work. Organised by his partner Teri Murray, 2015 is the 10th anniversary of his death.
Liam was a regular reader at the White House and launched a collection of poems ‘The Doppleganger’s Carnival’ there in 2001. All are invited to come along and read a poem, sing a song or recite a story on the night.
Liam Mulligan was born and bred in Limerick. He retired in 1990 after 40 years working in Irish Rail. A born traveller, he twice travelled the world and in 1992-3 he published ‘Mulligan’s Travels’, a serialised account of his travels. He also published short stories.
In 1998, while studying for a B.A. in English Literature, he published ‘Coddle and Tripe’ (1998, Stonebridge) along with poet Teri Murray.
