MOST Limerick motorists are now paying their motor tax online and the trend is continuing to rise.
62 per cent of vehicle owners across the city and county are now using the online service which has enabled the Limerick Motor Tax Department to keep waiting times to a minimum.
Limerick City and County Council director of finance Tom Gilligan said waiting times could be further reduced by more people using the online service which is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week at www.motortax.ie. He also pointed out that customers may also avail of the Motor Tax Department’s postal service.
According to Mr Gilligan, many of those surveyed while renewing their motor tax said they continue to do so out of habit rather than an inability to do so online.
More than 50 per cent said they would consider doing their business on-line in the future.

The Motor Tax offices in Council Buildings, Dooradoyle, Merchant’s Quay and Newcastle West will extend opening hours from Monday, June 8 from 9.15am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
