The new water utility company envisage that the design works will take three months, during which time planning permission will be sought from Limerick County Council. However, Cllr Sheahan said it was a “disgrace” that Askeaton’s sewerage problem has not been addressed. “Well done Athea and hard cheese to the rest of us. I was once told that the tide comes in a flushes out the Shannon Estuary twice a day. That was the best suggestion I was offered to deal with the sewerage overflow. It’s not good enough by a long shot”, he said.
