Legendary singer-songwriter Don McLean has added a Limerick date to his upcoming American Troubadour World Tour.
His 1971 album ‘American Pie’ spent seven weeks at the top of the charts and its title track made him an international star. ‘American Pie’ was named the fifth greatest song of the 20th Century by the NEA-RIAA (after, ‘Over The Rainbow’, ‘White Christmas’, ‘This Land Is My Land’ and ‘Respect’) and in 2002 “American Pie” was finally inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
Don McLean’s ‘Live in Manchester’ DVD/CD is released today Friday, May 8. The release features lost footage from a Manchester gig in October 1991 and includes classic hits such as American Pie, Vincent and Crying.
Don McLean plays University Concert Hall, Limerick on Tuesday September 29 2015. www.uch.ie for tickets
