LIMERICK Sinn Féin councillor, Maurice Quinlivan, has described the marriage equality referendum as an opportunity for Ireland to “get with the times”, and to “cherish all children of the nation equally”. “The No campaign is talking about issues which are completely irrelevant to this referendum, such as surrogacy and adoption. This campaign is about civil marriage equality, and will not affect religious marriage, or any religious groups. We shouldn’t be treating the LGBT community as second class citizens, and we should vote to allow them to marry”, he said.
