A 56-YEAR-old Limerick man has been charged with rape and sexual assault over a seven year period.
The man, who can not be named for legal reasons, was arrested last Tuesday morning and brought before a sitting of Limerick District Court on 14 charges dating from 2005 to 2012.
He made no reply to the charges. Released on bail, he was told to surrender his passport, not apply for new travel documents, sign on at his local Garda station three times a week and have no contact with the injured party.
He was also directed to stay away from two named areas on the suburbs of Limerick City.
The case was adjourned to June 9 for the preparation and service of a book of evidence.
