A CALL has been made for fire safety inspections on all Limerick city apartment blocks and nightclubs to ensure that the required safety measures are in place. Sinn Féin City West councillor Malachy McCreesh said it was encouraging to see that nightclubs and apartments were part of the 81 inspections carried out in the Metropolitan area over the past year. While the inspections resulted in the issuing of 22 warning letters, ten dangerous structure notices and four fire safety notices, it wasn’t clear if any of them related to apartments or nightclubs. Cllr McCreesh said there should be a public record for each individual premises or apartment building so that all details are available for review.
