LIMERICK’s quirky food festival, Culture and Chips, is said to be bigger and better this year as the best of food and entertainment acts will reunite in celebration over the June Bank Holiday weekend.

Following on from the success of the 2014 event, the organising committee behind @cultureandchips have secured some of the best in Irish musical acts including Hermitage Green, Mick Flannery and unique duet of Paul Noonan and Gemma Hayes performing as Printer Clips on Saturday night ahead of the return of Cabaret Des Frites.

Spanning the June Bank Holiday weekend from May 28 to June 2, the event will see the ultimate celebration of the Chip Champion when the World Chip Championships will find the best tasting chip on the planet.

Sticking with the culinary delights, Canteen chef owner Paul Williams will again be the epicurean charged with leading the Culinary Carnival Chip Banquet.

Paul says that he is “hoping that it will be a little different this year as last year we had a sharing plate to start and we tried not to put big groups together so that everyone gets a feel for a banquet and we had a long tables rather than round tables and people can get cut uff. We found that this worked which allows people to share dishes.

“We will have local craft beers and of course local produce to make this a real fun event. Last year we had things like carrot and beetroot chips amongst a great celebrations of the traditional potatoes.

The award winning Canteen chef added that Limerick’s local craft beers from White Gypsy and Treaty City will also feature on the menu.

The final draft of the event line up will be made available in the coming days while more information is available on www.cultureandchips.com
