THE TESCO Homegrown National League have seen very encouraging performances from Limerick this year. The early rounds have them on the road for three games in a row. First up was a trip Wicklow. This was a close game throughout and played at a very good standard. The result was in doubt up to final quarter and that’s when the Limerick girls got their heads in front to secure a welcome victory. Next up was a long trip to Antrim and in very poor weather conditions both counties played out a tight game. This was also a close game and a happy outcome with a narrow win. Still on the road it was off to St Fechin’s Grounds in Louth. While playing very good football on a ground that had perfect conditions, Limerick continued with their early form to secure a third win on the road. It was Derry who visited the splendid complex in Martinstown, Co Limerick for the first home game. Both sides set up for a wonderful game with great scores on the day. A semi-final was now secured after another victory and the programme was completed with a hard earned win over Offaly recently. This was a great campaign for the team and have got the semi-final to look forward to. Now that we are at the business end of the league it’s best wishes to the squad and hopefully keep up the recent good form. Best of luck to Limerick this Sunday as they take on Louth at 2 pm. Venue: TBC.

Eddie Murphy is March Manager of the Month:
It has been a great league campaign so far for Limerick who have qualified for the TESCO NFL semi-final after enjoying an unbeaten league campaign which they completed with an unbeaten record. Eddie Murphy is the manager that has steered Limerick to this success and he was honoured last Friday in Croke Park, as the TESCO/Irish Daily Star Manager of the Month.
Eddie was quick to point out that his winning of this award was only down to the hard work of the Limerick ladies team and dedicated his award to his players. ‘It is great to win this award for myself but this is about the work that is going on within the county board and with the other coaches that are helping me out and particularly this is for the girls who deserve the recognition.’
