Elderly Limerick woman critical following hit and run

AN ELDERLY woman remains in critical condition after the car in which she was travelling was struck head on by another vehicle in hit and run incident on Limerick’s Garryowen Road in the early hours of Easter Sunday morning.

The 80-year-old woman and her daughter, who was driving, were in a blue Volkswagen Golf that was struck by a Ford Focus, travelling in the opposite direction. Two men got out of the Ford Focus after the crash and fled the scene on foot.

The women were taken to University Hospital Limerick where the daughter was treated for minor injuries and the mother’s condition is described as critical but stable.
