Sinn Fรฉin Councillor Maurice Quinlivan has expressed Sinn Fรฉinโs โfirm and unequivocal support for the Dunnes Stores workers who will be on strike tomorrow.โ
The Sinn Fรฉin councillor made clear Sinn Fรฉin support for the Dunnes Stores workers and the partyโs support for the introduction of a living wage for workers. Tomorrow I will stand with my fellow local Councillors in supporting these workers who have been force to strike.
โThe application of zero hour contracts, and the imposition of low pay rates are sources of great hardship for working families. They damage any hope of a real recovery.โ
โThe intransigent attitude of the management at Dunnes Stores is at the root of tomorrows strike. Dunnes workers have been left with no option but to engage in industrial action in an effort to secure fair pay and secure hours.โ
โThey, and the 129,000 low-paid workers in this state, deserve certainty about their hours of work and income. They deserve secure jobs and they should get fair pay. And their right to trade union representation should be respected. Four years after Labour and Fine Gael came to power the Industrial Relations which will allow for collective bargaining rights, has still not even been published.โ
