A YOUNG couple remain in garda custody this Tuesday morning following the seizure of up to €80,000 worth of heroin in two areas of Limerick on Monday night.
The drugs were seized following a Garda surveillance operation at an address in the city and a second loaction on the outskirts of Limerick.
Chief Superintendent Dave Sheahan said that the seizure was part of an operation to tackle the illicit sale and distribution of heroin in the city.
Shortly before 9:30pm on Monday night, garda from the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit apprehended two quantities of heroin at an address on St Patrick’s Road and from a car in Rathbane.
The two arrested in connection with the sezures, a 36-year-old man and a 29-year-old female, both with addresses in Limerick city, remain in custody for questioning at Roxboro Garda Station as the directions of the Director of Public Prosecutions are awaited.
