Laura Enright Voice1Niall O'Halloran Voice2This Sunday night will see Voice of Ireland contestants Niall O’Halloran and Laura Enright take to the stage for their first live show performances.

This series will see an exciting new twist with the introduction of the Live Knockouts – a nail biting format element which has been now adopted on The Voice worldwide. Three members from each team will perform, however their fate lies with the coaches. It will be entirely up to Bressie, Kian, Rachel and Una on who stays in the competition and who goes home. It will be a tough decision as each week, only one act will go through to the quarter finals and two acts will exit the competition.

Speaking to the Limerick Post ahead of his performance, Niall (Team Una) said he is excited about Sunday nights show and is feeling very chilled out. “Una has to pick one out of the three of us to go through, so I am just focusing on giving a good performance and hoping the audience will pick up on the emotion I am trying to portray.”

Performing his own arrangement of ‘Love me like you do’ by Ellie Goulding, the singer said: “I am up against two amazing girls who are so talented but I am confident in my song and in myself. I know what I want from my life and I just want to do my best.”

Having watched the first live shows last weekend, Glynn lady Laura said she feels this round of the competition is “cut-throat”.

“Everyone on last weeks show had really stepped it up and gave their best performances which is a pity because it is bringing the best out in people. I am singing ‘Four Five Seconds’ by Rhianna, Paul McCartney and Kanye, and I am comfortable and happy with my song choice. I will just keep rehearsing this week.”

The creative writing student said she is hopeful about this Sundays knockout round and feels she has lots of support from the people of Glynn, friends and family, should she be succeed to the public vote stage of the competition.

For Team Bressie, Laura will have to win her place in the final against Ken Murphy and Denise Morgan. Niall has an equally challenging evening ahead of him as he will be trying to win his place over Nicola Lynch and Chloe Wilders.

University of Limerick student Sarah McTernan from Co. Clare will also be stepping on to the stage this Sunday night for that coveted spot in the quarter finals.

The second in the live knockout rounds of the show will air this Sunday, March 29 on RTE1at 6.30pm.
