A SERIES of weekly works are taking place at the useful red and white kiosk at People’s Park. Under the auspices of City of Culture, a visual arts legacy project curated by Ed Devane, ‘KIOSK: Mechanised Music Making’, is ongoing.
Park Kiosk has become a temporary music-making den.
Filled with specially made instruments, the aim of sound artist Ed Devane’s residency is to encourage creativity through collaboration. Visitors Monday to Friday can play electroacoustic musical instruments: bowed strings, plucked strings, and a three-voice mechanical drum sequencer.
The final performance for March is this Friday 27 at 7pm with ‘Withering Zithering’, Devane performing a piece using instruments he has built in addition to those installed.
