LIMERICK people are being encouraged to engage in conversation as Gaeilge this week as Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Language Week) gets underway.
Limerick City and County Council will host an ‘Oíche Gaeilge’ for people of all ranges of fluency in the exhibition area of the Council’s Merchant’s Quay offices this Thursday, March 12 at 4.30pm.
Mayor of Limerick City and County Council, Cllr Kevin Sheahan said, “I look forward to engaging with people, even if they just have a cúpla focal as Gaeilge, at this week’s free and informal event as we celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge.”
All individuals or groups are welcome to attend but those interested in attending the ‘Oíche Gaeilge’ are asked to email [email protected] to register their interest.
Seachtain na Gaeilge, which continues until March 17, is an international Irish language festival and one of the biggest celebrations of our native language and culture that takes place each year in Ireland and in many other countries. See www.snag.ie for more.
