JP and Noreen McManus have announced a further incentive in their sponsorship of the World’s richest greyhound puppy race, the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Puppy Stake at Limerick Greyhound Stadium, for which the closing date for entries is on Monday next, March 2nd.
All first round losing dogs will receive a consolation prize of €100, an initiative which will help to make the event accessible to all owners and trainers, large and small, and provide an opportunity for everyone to compete for a €80,000 first prize.
Phil Meaney, chairman of the Irish Greyhound Board, described the innovative initiative as “generous and very thoughtful in the third year of what has been a remarkable engagement by JP and Noreen McManus.” ” They understand that the Irish greyhound family is very inclusive and that greyhound racing needs everyone to participate fully in the best and biggest events on our calendar.”
The Puppy Stake is named after the parents of Noreen McManus, Con and Annie Kirby, and has a particular resonance for Noreen who commented : “We are delighted to see the event progressing and look forward to this year’s being the most successful to date.”
