FOUR Plays that merit the hashtag #Limerickandproud continue apace with No. 3 in the series on a slate for Sunday March 1, 8pm at No. 1 Pery Square.
Bottom Dog Theatre Company is annual producer with Liam O’Brien in the hot seat of selection and organisation of the plays read and directed by professionals. He made a fine job himself ten days ago directing ‘Borrowed Robes’, managing a walk on as a Limerick Bishop diminished by his troubled, troubling loose cannon of a preacher Fr Keane (Ciarán McMahon in impassioned form).
On to Sunday best next week. ‘Anything By Love’ by Mary Coll was first presented at former Belltable Arts Centre at its reopening in 2010 and indeed, was produced by the venue for that auspicious occasion. Joan Sheehy, who is only ever behind excellent stuff and works every site as if it were on pulleys, is guest director.
O’Brien describes the play as “a contemporary take of Kate O’Brien’s ‘The Ante Room’. It’s a romantic and yet biting tragi-comedy about love and loss…An all local new cast includes actors Marie Boylan, Karen Fitzgibbon, Stephanie O’Keefe, Shane O’Brien and Bottom Dog founder Myles Breen”.
