THE Limerick Literary Festival will unfold its leaves from Friday February 20 to Sunday 22 with novelist Joe O’Connor launching the three day event at 69 O’Connell Street. Opera singer Sarah Dolan will give the traditional opening recital, the Music and Splendour event, accompanied by Colette Davis on piano.

Innovations this year include a conference in Mary Immaculate College on the theme of ‘Loss in Irish writing’ and there will be a Kate O’Brien award for the most popular Irish author.

On Saturday the festival welcomes poet and short story writer Orfhlaith Foyle, novelist/ memoir writer Nick Barlay, author Elizabeth Wassell, poet John Montague, Booker long-listed Niall Williams and the Bailey’s women’s prize for fiction shortlisted Audrey Magee.

Other participants include Pamela Cahill discussing Kate O’Brien’s Spain and art historian Eimear O’Connor on Sean Keating. Finally, last year’s promised guest star Edna O’Brien will be interviewed by RTE’s Sean Rocks to close the 2015 three days.
