RTE’S ‘The Voice of Ireland’ will have a strong Limerick interest this week. Auditioning live for the judges is 22 year old singer/actor Niall O’Halloran. Niall applied for an audition through 2FM as less people apply for it than main casting. His mum started the application in secret and then got him to finish it.
Niall revealed to Limerick Post this week that his initial audition was for a wildcard position with RTE 2fm. “ It was a really good way to prepare for the blind audition. After I went through that day of auditions I was excited that I was able to continue on in the competition, because to be honest, I was convinced I did an awful job that day but I’m a perfectionist like that!”
For the blind audition on ‘The Voice of Ireland’, Niall sang Sam Smyth’s ‘Lay Me Down’
Niall said, “I just put everything I got into telling the story of the song and doing my absolute best. Doing that really helped with the nerves, and the energy in the room was just unreal!”
Find out how Niall got on in ‘The Voice of Ireland’ on RTE One this Sunday February 1 from 6.30pm.
