TIPPERARY woman Áine Ryan has had astonishing critical success at home and at Edinburgh Fringe Festival with her first performed play,  written by herself. ‘Kitty in the Lane’ has raw themes channeled through Kitty, struggling to run a farm by herself with an elderly father. Her brother’s death is a near shadow.

On the eve of a pageant to which her boyfriend will bring her, “the play is a dark drama, unlocking her perspective of life as a young woman in a lonesome environment, but is also filled with comedic relief through witty observations and anecdotes of her own reckless activity in the past”.
Touring parts of the country, Ryan’s play stops at Friar’s Gate, Kilmallock on Friday January 30, 8pm. Emily Matthews from Holycross is technical and stage manager to this professional show.
