ANDY LEE is expected to fight Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillan in New York this coming April in his first defence of the WBO title.
Quillan, a previous WBO Middleweight champion himself, has reportedly met the purse price needed to fight Lee, who had hoped to fight his first defence in Ireland this summer.
Quillan, ranked number two by the WBO, gave up the belt instead of fighting Matt Korborov, who Lee defeated to win the title.
It had been reported also that Lee would face Denmark’s Patrick Neilsen in Dublin around St. Patrick’s Day, but that fight seems to have been pushed to allow a title defence on US television which would be a massive money day for Andy Lee.
