NURSING staff at Limerick’s hospitals have voted by a huge majority in favour of industrial action to protest overcrowding at the Emergency Department of the University Hospital in Dooradoyle. Irish Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation in Limerick, Ennis, Nenagh and Croom voted 93 per cent in favour of action, which will take the form of a work to rule beginning on Tuesday February 3. Meanwhile , the union is asking members of the public to join them and nursing staff from across the country at a protest about conditions in hospital ED’s which will take place on Wednesday January 14 at noon at the Kildare Street entrance to the Dáil.
