A LIMERICK woman was dramatically rescued from a house fire this Sunday evening by a quick acting neighbour who pulled her from a downstairs room as her home became engulfed.

Limerick City Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene after the alarm was raised and they were mobilized to the blaze at a city estate.

The domestic fire broke out at home in Walnut Court, Kennedy Park at approximately 7.30pm.

A neighbour had successfully rescued the lady, believed to be in her 60’s, from the downstairs living room.

The woman was treated, along with the neighbour, for smoke inhalation by the Fire Service until HSE Paramedics arrived and she was then transported to University Hospital Limerick where her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes of arrival by the Limerick City Fire and rescue service.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Garda Forensic Unit.
