THE daughter of a young Latvian couple living in Limerick died instantly when the bucket of a tractor fell on her in a freak accident in North Cork earlier this year, a coroners court has been told.
8-year-old Paula Dinsberga from Dooradoyle, Limerick, was staying with friends of her parents at a farm near Newtownshandrum, outside Charleville in Co Cork.
Paula’s parents, Linda and Raivo, were attendeing a family wedding in their native Latvia.
At Mallow Coroner’s Court, details of the fatal blunt force trauma were heard before the case was adjourned pending the outcome of a Health and Safety Authority investigation.
In a freak accident, it was reported that a tractor bucket apparently fell and crushed Paul and here friend 11-year-old, Keriga Pliesnanis.
Keriga suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to Cork University Hospital, but tragically Paula was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí had to break the news to her parents when their flight landed at Dublin Airport around midnight.
