Ulster Bank League – Limerick Club Previews #UBL

YMunsterThomond-29AFTER the magic of the cup last weekend, attention returns to All Ireland League action as all four Divisions get back to work.

Division 1A, Sat-6-Dec,
2.30pm, Greenfields
Young Munster v Clontarf

SIXTH entertains third in this clash, but Young Munster know that a win will get them back in the playoff hunt once more. John Staunton’s men defeated Thomond in the Munster senior cup last weekend, so they have had good preparation to face the reigning champions.
Verdict: Young Munster

Division 1B, Sat-6-Dec,
2pm, Coonagh
Shannon v Malone

SHANNON need a win to make sure there is some daylight between themselves and the bottom. Malone are no pushovers however and will provide a stern test for Ian Sherwin’s men. A performance from Shannon like the one they put in against UL Bohemians will see them claim all four points here.
Verdict: Shannon

Division 1B Sat-6-Dec,
2.30pm, Dooradoyle
Garryowen v Galwegians

THE game of the weekend in 1B sees third entertain first at Dooradoyle. Garryowen, Limerick’s main hope of promotion from this division can put down a real marker with a win here. The Galway version of the light blues are top, but by no means unbeatable.
Verdict: Home win.

Division 1B Sat-6-Dec,
2.30pm, Corinthian Park
Corinthians v UL Bohemians

A WIN in the cup last weekend snapped a six game losing streak for the Robins. However league form is still a worry. With the students in exam week, Colm Tucker’s men know they need to pass the test this weekend if they are to start looking up again.
Verdict: Corinthians

Blackrock v Thomond

THOMOND travel to Dublin still sore from last weekend’s defeat to Young Munster in the cup. Second plays fourth here so a win will be huge for Brendan Guilfoyle’s men.
Verdict: Thomond

Old Crescent v Sligo

THE OC are up against it this weekend. Sligo are a fine side and will pose a huge threat to the Limerick side, currently in 13th position.

Division 2B Sat-6-Dec,
2.30pm, Kilballyowen
Bruff v Wanderers

BRUFF are fourth in this division, yet they have the same record as ninth placed Wanderers. Such is the nature of 2B, a win this weekend will be a virtual eight pointer.
