lk chamber 1Limerick Chamber’s annual Christmas Networking Event has the added bonus of a short interactive workshop on Emotional Intelligence.  Kindly sponsored by Limerick Chamber Skillnet, the event will take place on Thursday December 11 at 5.30pm in the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Ennis Road, Limerick.

The evening will be facilitated by Donal Fitzgibbon of Donal Fitzgibbon & Associates, Mungret.  Donal works on the premise that to be effective in whatever one does you must have the requisite technical and people skills.  He specialises in the area of people skills development with emphasis on communication, assertiveness, motivation, teamwork, influencing and problem solving.  In a relaxed festive environment, Donal Fitzgibbon will deliver a one hour Emotional Intelligence Workshop before facilitating some structured networking. There will be a break for refreshments in between.

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability to monitor one’s own and other people’s emotions, to discriminate between different emotions and label them appropriately, and to use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior. EI is now recognised as an essential part of achieving success at work. EI involves the ability to handle personal emotions as well as lead, influence, persuade, negotiate and motivate others.

Anne Morris, Manager of Limerick Chamber Skillnet, explained why the workshop goes hand in hand with the networking session, “Networking is about making new connections and potential new customers.  The short innovative workshop on EI will emphasise the importance of proactive people skills in the workplace and will promote a better understanding of your colleagues and customers.”

Limerick Chamber Marketing and Membership Manager, Maura McMahon, added, “Networking events have proven to be a very effective way for businesses to make new contacts and promote their products and services. I’m hopeful the addition of the workshop will equip our members with some very useful tools to achieve further success. We are looking forward to a successful evening.”
