Killester returned to winning ways with a hard fought 69-61 win at Dublin Inter in the Men’s Premier League. Jonathan Grennell’s side had slumped to an 85-52 midweek defeat at home to Templeogue but the trio of Roe, Casey and Behan combined for 42 points in Sunday’s comeback win in Clonsilla.
“It was the best thing for us to get back out there and play again this weekend,” said Grennell. “ It’s just about playing as a group and getting some cohesion back in the game.”
The win was enough to see Killester overtake Travelodge Swords Thunder in 2nd place. Swords beat DCU Saints 86-84 in Saturday’s North Dublin derby.
C&S UCC Demons are now 8-0 in the Men’s Premier League following a 94-73 win over UL Eagles at the Mardyke Arena in Cork. Lehmon Colbert hit the game high with 30 points while Ricky Taylor scored the highest individual total of the season with 42 points in Belfast Star’s 101-89 win over BFG Neptune. Neptune were stunned into submission when Belfast fired off 33 points in the 3rd quarter and player coach Ger Noonan fouled out down the stretch.
Team Montenotte Hotel are back on top of the Women’s Premier League thanks to a 64-56 win over Courtyard Liffey Celtics. The Kildare women held their own throughout. ‘We’ll take the win’, said TMH Coach Mark Scannell. “Celtics will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. We put in a good shift defensively but still need to work on our offence.”
Singleton Supervalu Brunell are now in third place following a 65-60 win over Maxol WIT Wildcats
