A BLAZE of celtic dresses and high kicks by O’Rourke School of Dancing warmed the media launch of ‘A Night to Remember’, the annual fundraising concert of bands, singers, dancers and comedy.
Taking place in University Concert Hall on Tuesday December 2, 8pm, artists and organisers give their services for free to the 7th annual ‘Night to Remember’.
This year, for the first time, monies raised will divide between perennial beneficiary Alzheimer Respite Centre, Ballina and a charity for children that is still in its infancy, Bumbleance.
At Bobby Byrne’s Bar, producer Tony Doyle gathered with musical director Bryan Meehan, MC for the concert Lorcan Murray of RTE lyric fm, the Ború Choir from Ballina/ Killaloe, comedian John Geraghty, musician Michael Nash, soprano Eve Stafford and more with detail and insights.
Present and grateful were Gabriel Wallace of Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Limerick and Bumbleance founder and (unpaid) CEO Tony Heffernan.
Tony spoke to Limerick Post about his hopes for Bumbleance to secure a second customised ambulance to ferry children to hospital, hospices and sometimes home for a final time for those terminally ill, “the angel run, as we call it”. Only another €40,000 is needed to outfit a second ambulance with playstation, movies, games and of course, live saving equipment and paramedics.
€20 tickets from www.uch.ie; Alzheimer’s on 061-313456 / Ballina 061-313456 and Bumbelance 083-0044444.
