TWO dance companies, Liz Roche’s and Maiden Voyage Dance (Belfast) come together to perform a new dance work tonight, Thursday 27, that looks at the predicament of living out two conflicting states of mind at once.
‘Neither Either’ is inspired by the words of Seamus Heaney.
The performance takes place at Dance Limerick (St John’s Church), John’s Square on November 27 at 8pm.
Core to this piece are issues of conflicting identities, habits within oneself, adapting to change and drawing distinctions – nod to Heaney’s quote “…the strain of being in two places at once, of needing to accommodate two opposing conditions of truthfulness simultaneously…” from his prose work ‘Place and Displacement. This is within the collection, ‘Finders Keepers’.
Choreographed by Roche and set to Neil Martin’s score, identities, beliefs, emotions and aspirations “are put to the test by a stunning company of dancers in this poignant blend of dance, poetry and music,” says producer Maeve Butler.
