THE UK’s National Health Service (NHS) is targeting Limerick nurses as part of a new recruitment drive aimed at hiring 100 staff to work in Essex.
The Colchester Hospital University Foundation Trust, in northeast Essex, is holding a recruitment ‘roadshow’ event in Limerick on November 11 and 12 in the Clarion Hotel.
The hospital is also holding events in Galway and Cork.
“We have a severe shortage of nursing staff in general in the UK and are very keen to recruit nurses from within Ireland because of the standard of training and experience they have,” said the hospital’s associate director of nursing for medicine, Carole Broadbank.
“Irish nurses are highly qualified, educated to a very high standard, are motivated, caring and empathetic and are highly sought after around the world. We have nursing posts at all grades available now and I can guarantee them they will be warmly welcomed and made feel at home when they arrive.”
“We want ambitious nurses who share our values to join us and help make our community a healthier, happier place,” she added.
Most of the vacancies are in the areas of emergency medicine, care of the elderly, and general medical services.
The recruitment event begins on Tuesday, November 11 from 4pm to 8pm, and continues the following day from 9am until 12pm; anyone wishing to apply must bring a passport as proof of identity and Irish Nursing Registration.
