Jobs announced for Newcastlewest

imagesNEW JOBS are on the way for Newcastlewest with the announcement that Filtertek that they are to create an additional 35 new jobs at their Newcastle West plant.

The company makes filtration and fluid control devices for medical use and the new positions will be for machine operators, moulding technicians, engineers, quality technicians and production supervisors.

The expansion will bring the workforce in the county town to 100 people.

Commenting in the announcement of the IDA supported jobs, Minister Richard Bruton said manufacturing employment is “growing and productivity in this area is showing impressive results.

“Today’s announcement that Filtertek Ireland is expanding employment in Newcastle West is a great boost for this area and evidence of what is possible for manufacturing companies in regional locations,” he said.

Also welcoming the anouncement was Fine Gael TD for Limerick Patrick O’Donovan.

Deputy O’Donovan said that this announcement together with recent announcements in Limerick prove that the recovery is now beginning to take hold in regional areas. He added that the announcement comes at a time of increased employment numbers in the medical devices sector and he said that he hopes to see further announcements of this nature in County Limerick in the coming months.

“We are very lucky in Newcastle West to have high quality employers like Filtertek, this announcement is a major vote of confidence by Filtertek and the Government in Newcastle West and as a local person representing the area I am delighted that this announcement has received support from Minister Richard Bruton.
