CLOHESSY’S Bar on Howley’s Quay has closed this morning after more than 13 years of business.
A notice at the entrance to the pub stated “Clohessy’s Bar Ltd has ceased trading as and from October 5, 2014. The premises will remain closed until further notice. We would like to take the opportunity to thank all our customers who supported us over the years.”
Clohessy’s, which also incorporated the Sin Bin nightclub, was owned by former Munster, Ireland and Lions rugby player Peter Clohessy, who is regarded as one of Limerick’s finest-ever exponents of the sport. It was an especially popular venue for major rugby matches involving Munster and Ireland.
While the main bar and nightclub have closed, it has been confirmed that Small Claw’s and Croker’s will remain open.
