Government consultant kept three Limerick brothels

A CONSULTANT who advised the Government on a major transport project has admitted keeping and managing three brothels at apartments in Limerick during 2010 and 2011.

Thomas Lyons (56), with an address at The Warrens, Malahide, Dublin, was arraigned at Limerick Circuit Court this Wednesday and admitted the offences contrary to Section 11 of the Criminal Law Sexual Offences Act.

He was a senior consultant engineer with Atkins Ireland, a transport group involved in advising Fingal County Council and designing support services for Metro West light rail project in Dublin.

He admitted keeping or managed brothels at apartments in Riverpoint, Bishops Quay; Loughmills, Grove Island and Bridgewater House, Harvey’s Quay in Limerick between August 13, 2010 and June 15, 2011.

Judge Carroll Moran adjourned the case until October 30 for sentence and the production of a probation report.
