Opportunities on offer for Limerick people at Mid West Job Shop

-

JobShopMORE than 500 job vacancies will be on offer at the Mid West Job Shop at Thomond Park on Thursday October 2.

Delivered by ULearning Skillnet in association with the Department of Social Protection and CPL Ltd, it will run from 10am to 3pm, with organisers expecting an increase in attendance from last year’s event. The Mid West Job Shop will have a Ministerial lauch and will provide an opportunity for local companies to source employees.

Jobseekers will have the chance to meet with potential future employers from many sectors, ranging from multinational businesses to small and medium enterprises. Companies such as Dell, Viagogo, EMC, ACI Worldwide, Northern Trust, Mowlam Healthcare and Comfortkeepers will feature at the Job Shop.

A panel of free careers advisors will be available and local training providers will also be exhibiting. These range from universities and local colleges to training centres.

Ronan O’Boyle, Network Manager of ULearning Skillnet, stated that the Mid West Job Shop has gone from strength to strength as it seeks to offer people a pathway to employment.

He said: “This year we have been overwhelmed with the support from local employers and training institutions. Now in its third year, 2014 is a bigger event with much more jobs on offer.

“Simply put, we have created the opportunity to put jobseekers in touch with their future, whether a new job or new skills. Ultimately it will contribute to growing a stronger regional economy.”

CPL regional director Graham Burns added: “This is a great event for the region which CPL will continue to support. The Mid-West Job Shop underlines the growing employment opportunity which exists in this region.”
