MEMBERS of Limerick City and County Council have voted to allow the local authority borrow €32 million to develop sites and attract investment and jobs.
The money will be borrowed to kick-start development and make sites around the city and county more attractive to private interests. As part of a strategy around the delivery of economic growth for Limerick’s 2030 plan it is proposed that key sites will need an immediate cash flow fund to secure, develop and market the projects.
City and County chief executive, Conn Murray revealed that the key strategic sites include the Opera Site redevelopment, Colbert Station renewal, completion of the Hanging Garden site, the redevelopment of the former Cleeves site, Innovation Hub at Roxboro, the Anderson Facility in Rathkeale and Mungret College. He told a meeting of the council that there would be transparency in how the money is being spent.
