THOUSANDS of euro worth of valuables have been stolen in a spate of burglaries that gardai in Limerick are investigating with the possibility that some are linked by the same gang of thieves.

Gardai are warning homeowners to secure their properties when not at home and always be vigilant towards suspicious activities.

With the latest spate of burglaries indicating that this type of crime is on the rise, gardai are now hunting gangs who are possibly linked to committing burglaries in Corbally, Westbury, South Circular Road, Monaleen and Annacotty in the last two weeks.

During the raids, all carried out when the home owners or occupiers were not present, high value personal items including electronics, cash and personal computers were all taken. In one case, a car was taken from outside a house in Corbally and it was later found burnt out on the Southside of the city.

Investigations are continuing.
