GPS tracking from a mobile phone used to call emergency services saved the day for a family of five trapped in Cratloe Woods on Monday night.

The alarm was raised when the family were unable to make their way out of the woods having slipped off the trail.

Trapped, a call was placed to Valentia Coast Guard radio around 9pm and they in turn deployed rescue teams to the search site at the county Clare woods.
