Dolan’s Summer Party: The sound of the underground

-

THIS weekend’s Summer Party at Dolan’s boasts an exciting lineup. In association with Seoda Shows the gig features God Knows and mynameisjOhn, R.S.A.G, Moscow Metro, Elaine Mai, The Vincents, New Secret Weapon, Jet Setter, Slow Riot, Elastic Sleep and choosing the platters that matter, Lenny DJ Set, Steve Windings DJ Set and Tom Fitz (Termight Klub) DJ Set.
RSAG (Rarely Seen Above Ground) is Kilkenny based multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Hickey. Jeremy records, performs and produces all the material in his home studio. His live shows are an audio visual treat. From behind his drum kit Hickey controls a bank of instruments, samples and is backed by a virtual band projected onto a big screen. While the feat of being able to perform this show with dexterity is fascinating enough to be worth checking out, RSAG also has the songs and chops as witnessed on 2013’s ‘Rotate EP’. His debut album ‘Organic Sampler’ received a Choice Music Prize nomination for the Irish Album of the Year 2008 and the long promised third album is now progressing along as Jeremy revealed a few weeks ago, “The hard part is over, songs for the album have been selected. Now to record the drums…. it’s gonna get LOUD!!!”
RSAG plays the Dolan’s Summer Party this weekend and Electric Picnic on August 31.
Limerick’s Moscow Metro had a successful summer touring in Germany. The band has already raised their profile nationally having played festivals including Electric Picnic, Body and Soul and Liss Ard in Cork. In Germany the band performed at Karrera Klub, Berlin, a sold out show in Stuttgart and joined The National and Warpaint at The Maifeld Derby Festival in Mannheim among others.
Their EP Spirit of the City was recorded between Grove Studios, Exchequer studios and Grouse Lodge and co-produced by the band, Owen Geaney and Rob Kirwin who has worked with Glasvegas and The Horrors.
The band taped their official debut TV performance for Clár Imeall on TG4. The performance will be aired in October.
Tickets for Dolan’s Summer Party are just a fiver. It will take place over four venues: The Warehouse, Dolan’s Upstairs, The Terrace and the Kasbah Social Club featuring God Knows and mynameisjOhn, R.S.A.G, Moscow Metro, Elaine Mai and many more. It happens this Saturday August 23.
