THE first fruits of The Pigtown Fling have been released on Soundcloud. The track is called ‘Hide and Creep’ and features Ronan Mitchell, Aoife McLoughlin, Boris Hunka, Aoife Nic Athlaoich, Cian O’Duill, Oonagh Keogh and Kenneth Rice. It was recorded as part of Limerick City of Culture 2014. Over 60 Limerick musicians, producers, engineers and documentary makers have collaborated to produce Sound Out & The Pigtown Fling. This is a musical legacy project that has seen the city’s creatives work together on an original body of work that will be premiered in September and released on CD.
The Pigtown Fling happens on Saturday September 20 at Crescent Hall on O’Connell Avenue. Today FM DJ and Undertones lead singer Paul McAloon will be one of the comperes at the event. Tickets for the event are free when you purchase the limited edition CD for €12 though Lime Tree Theatre. The CD can be collected on the night of the gig on production of the ticket. Proceeds of the CD go to Corbett Suicide Prevention Patrol and The Learning Hub.
