ANTI-Austerity Alliance (AAA) councillor Cian Prendiville is calling for companies banned from availing of the JobBridge programme after abusing the scheme to be named as a deterrent against abuse of the unemployed.
Cllr Prendiville now wants new Minister for Activation, Kevin Humphreys TD, to publish the names of all companies banned from using the employment scheme. Over 40 companies have to date been banned from the programme.
Cllr Prendiville, also maintains that the figure of a 64 per cent success rate for JobBridge, cited by Minister Humphreys on national radio last week, is a “fantasy”.
“The actual success rate of JobBridge is 19.5 per cent, this is the figure which should be published. The Minister also claimed that there is a rigorous monitoring procedure – this is again more spin,” claimed the City North councillor.
“Up until the 15th of July 41 companies had been banned from JobBridge. At the same point last year, 23 companies had been banned, that means that despite all the evidence that the scheme is being widely abused, only 18 companies were banned,” said Cllr Prendiville.
The AAA councillor insists that if the new Minister were serious about tackling the scheme, he would publish the names of the banned companies, even if they are State bodies, as a deterrent against abuse of the unemployed.
