GARDAI are warning both retailers and customers to be wary of a counterfeit €20 notes that are in circulation in Limerick as well five other counties.
It is understood that the high-quality counterfeit €20 notes have been circulated to the market in Limerick as well as counties Dublin, Cork, Waterford, Tipperary and Kildare.
Events and festivals have been used to introduce the money to circulation and using the large volume of public traffic to filter the forgeries in.
Retailers are urged to check €20 notes in the same fashion that €50 notes are checked.
