UP TO 1,500 people are diagnosed with cancer in Limerick every year and this year, the Irish Cancer Society is calling on the community to get active and help beat cancer during this year’s race season.
The Society is appealing to the women of Limerick to join ‘Team Irish Cancer Society’ for the upcoming events throughout the province with races in Kerry, Cork and Tipperary ahead of the event here in Limerick on October 26 at the UL Campus.
John McCormack, CEO of the Irish Cancer Society said; “The upcoming Mini-Marathons in Munster is a great day out for women to have fun, get fit and also raise funds towards vital services which the Irish Cancer Society provides to cancer patients nationwide.
People of all fitness levels can get involved in these events which promise a fun day out for all the family and provide a good incentive to increase physical activity. All funds raised by those who choose to fundraise for the Society will go towards the provision of free services to cancer patients and their families all over Ireland.
