CULTURE Night on Friday September 19 will be exceptional in town with fabulous launches such as the Urban Herd of 15 painted horses brought to graze at People’s Park.
County Limerick venues will share the zeitgeist with big shows of their own. Case in point: Main Street of Hospital is calling on professional artists to exhibit works throughout the village, creating the Shop Window Festival on Culture Night.
To this end, a ’Hospital Main Street Meet + Greet’ will be held this Saturday 19 July between 2pm– 5pm. This is to allow artists to visit Hospital, to view premises and meet with local shop owners in order to develop their work if necessary.
“The objective is to bring contemporary art, culture and the subject of local environment to the street, utilising the town itself as a living and working exhibition space and allowing free, unlimited access to all,” writes Bríd Quin of Limerick Arts Office.
The Autumn event will make the most of dormant and functional shop premises as showcases for visual arts with the aim of bringing art and culture to the street; the curators have expressed an interest in the idea of ‘home’ in all its aspects. One exhibition space will also be reserved for work based on an environmental theme.
Each artist can submit up to three works and digital images of same must first be emailed as jpegs to: [email protected]
